Nosebleeds

Frigging heck. I'm on medications that make me vulnerable to random nosebleeds, and I just got one. Three paper towels later, it's gone. The meds inhibit clotting so it takes way longer than it should to stop bleeding heavily. ARG, stupid nosebleeds!

I used to get nosebleeds all the time when I was younger. Luckily, I've outgrown it, and have them like once a year if that. They aren't so bad, though.

A little. The medicine prevents clotting and so it takes a bothersomely long time to stop, even with pressure and head tilted back.

I used to get them all of the time. I got one on-air yesterday.

Just hold your head back. You'll swallow a lot of blood, but it's the best way. Keep hydrated, and maybe get a humidfier if you can.

Could be worse. I have a friend who has messed up blood vessels in his sinuses, and he gets bad nosebleeds after any period of strenuous exercise or emotional distress. By bad, I mean it pretty much gushes out...

When you have a nosebleed, stay in an area where it is cooler. Put an ice pack on top of your head, hold your nose bridge, and tilt head backward. I always do that and the bleeding usually stop in about 3-5 mins.

Welcome to my world. Just wait until you get one while driving, those are fun.

A good little trick is to take a piece of gauze and roll it up, sticking it between your upper lip and your gums. I don't know why that helps, but it does.
