Or go to an ENT, you might need cauterized.

I too get nosebleeds pretty often during the winter time, the bitter dry cold air drys the nasal membranes out and causes then to crack and bleed. When that starts happening I just use a saline nasal spray daily until my nose stops showing signs of bleeding (eg. snot and dried blood bits after blowing nose).

I was going to suggest humidifier but you've already got that in the OP.

The winter air is really dry, and I don't generally get enough fluids at the office - I had a sore throat for most of last winter. Bought a humidifier this fall and things have been better.

My mom gets nosebleeds when the air is really dry ... I got a decent humidifier for her with large capacity and variable settings. She runs it at night, and nosebleeds are pretty much a thing of the past.

If you don't have a humidifier you can make a diy version that actually works better and is free. Two different ways.
Take a towel, wet it, wring it out, put it on a coat hanger in the room near a source of air blowing helps. You can also hang your washed clothes inside instead of using a dryer.

The towel and clothing method works best , the larger the surface area the faster it will humidify the room.

Another method is to just place bowls of water on tables around the home, they will naturally evaporate until the humidity reaches equilibrium.

I don't need to do anything for the winter anymore. I have aquariums and they evaporate about a half gallon a day in each room.

The ENT I went to mentioned that there is a chance you could lose some of your sense of smell. Since I only get a nose bleed ~1 month at most and they last <5 minutes, I just deal with it. I should get some saline solution, and then I'd likely end up having them less often.

do you have an ulcer in your nostril? you should you see a ear/nose/throat specialist to make sure it is nothing serious...it could be lupus, and I am not kidding.

When I was sick last week I was sleeping with a 60 year old humidifier. They're the best, hot as hot can be.

EDIT: Protection? hell yeah, she's a squirter, throw down a towel and it's all good.
