It is Not so simple Not every thing in computers can be summarized with Resources hogging. Especially that in today's powerful computers a lot of people have more resources that they care to use.

If you have other means of protection and you are familiar with the security issues and constantly paying attention AntiVir may be good enough.

If you are more of a newbie or you do not care to constantly deal with security issue Norton provide much better overall security.
