What OS are you using Im using 98se and cant load NU until I have done a windows update.
After I load windows and due a critical update of windows it loads no problem

thanks RENOB!~!!!! :D

i did that.. there was only a security update.. but it worked.. i still got the error at 18% but i think that has something to do with Norton Ghost.. i have the NTFS.. and ghost can't use it..

plus clean sweep works.. and live update also.. thanks alot.

oh yea didnt get the error at start up either~!!!!!

Actually, Ghost can use it. It can backup an NTFS partition, but can't write to or from NTFS. So if you want to make an image of your NTFS partition, you have to have another partition in FAT, or do like me and burn the image directly to CDR.

yep, just select your CDRW drive when you're backing up, and it'll burn the image to multiple CDR, or CDRW. You can even make it bootable...

Before you spend much time on this, verify that the NU cdrom itself is not scratched. I got the same error or a similar one and it turned out that I had scratched the cd.

RANT
Since Symantec bought out Peter Norton's utilities, I don't think we see nearly the quality that once was there.

Meaningless error messages is just one example, and this from a piece of diagnostic software.

Another blankety-blank-blank irritation is that their online registration never works properly. Everybody else in the universe can do it, but not Symantec. (They have a fix-it note on this. I think it involves deleting a Windows file.)
