Pic of error window.
This comes up when I try to open the configuration for Norton Antivirus.
Pretty much anything I try to do with NAV on the computer results in an error window - autoscan for IM applications, scanning files on the drive using the right-click menu option, etc.
The link provided doesn't provide an explanation, only a "solution" - uninstall and reinstall NSW. That did absolutely nothing except take up time. One error message's recommendation was to run Liveupdate - when I do that, it just gives another error.
Bad disc maybe?

Edit: I also get another error - NAV can't start the Instant Messenger Scanner. The number for that is 3021,4. It tells me to go into the configuration for NAV to work on this - can't do that though!

Try Symantecs "knowledge base". I know when I had a problem with Internet Security, I uninstalled it and used a tool called ndis.exe (I think, I'm gettin older) and that somehow did the trick. Apparently the ndis.exe removes the last traces of the software. Don't know if it will work with Systemworks, but go check it out.

The Symantec Knowledge Base is nearly impossible to navigate.

Search for SYMCLN.EXE and RNAV.EXE.

Symcln.exe is to remove all traces of Systemworks after uninstall, but I didn't need it to uninstall SystemWorks Pro 2002. I did need it for clean uninstall of an earlier version.

I've forgotten (old fart) the exact purpose of rnav.exe, but for some reason I saved it. I believe it's for complete uninstall of Norton AntiVirus.

Hope this helps!

Ok; the KB article that the error message links to gave instructions to use a removal file that I couldn't seem to find. I'll give these a try next week - this is on someone else's PC, and I'm going to be there again then.

Used SYMClean.exe after doing a normal uninstallation - no effect, because it found nothing to remove. Reinstalled just NAV. Same errors. Ran just Symclean - it didn't even see NAV; it only saw RescueDisk as the one Norton program installed on the system.
This is with my own Systemworks 2003 CD too, which I've used at home and is verified good, so I'm sure she didn't get a bad CD now.

More: I uninstalled Systemworks, then went through the registry manually and cleaned out any signs of it. I tried to use JV Powertools, but I had installed it after a BIOS setup - year 2001 as far as the PC was concerned - so when I set the date to normal, Powertools tells me that the beta has expired...can't use that now until they fix that.:(
I found that Systemworks also installs stuff in Windows\Application Data, Program Files\Common Files, and Program Files\Symantec. I removed the Program Files/Symantec folder, and reinstalled Live Update, which is finally running. :D Downloading 2MB of updates now...over a 56K modem! I miss broadband already!!!
