Norton SystemWorks 2000 incompatible with WinME?

What is Norton trying to pull? WinME is essentially just Win98SE. I installed it onto WinME, and everything seems to work fine. But like always with Norton products, it finds a lot of things "wrong" with the registry and wants to automatically fix them. It found 12 things wrong, and I just formated my drive and did a clean install of WinME!!!

One thing I also hate about Norton, is that they only put out one "update" to each version. Then a "new" version comes out, but you can't just upgrade to that. You have to buy it.

Another gripe I have about Norton/Symantecs is that after they release a new version, they no longer offer any "updates" to their older products! Example: I had Norton Systemworks v1.0. There was several updates that was released for it. But, after v2.0 was released, they no longer offered the updates.

There are differences in the software and system utilities are very dependent on software versioning in order to function correctly. Go check Norton's web site for patches or updates or work arounds regarding WinME and the version of Norton you have.

hai ,
i agree with Spiff you should try to get the updates !
cause the norton products always have a very close integration with windows and any kind of a mismatch can lead to errors!
