Or does one really need all those extras? Could one get by with a different AV, firewall, & perhaps diskeeper?

I like version 2003 Pro... No activation.
GoBack 3 is great if you've got the system to support it (enought power for it to be running in the background).
I like some of the utilities... SpeedDisk, WinDr. I also like to be able to run WinDr. from the CD. It helps find problems on other people's PCs.
I don't use an AV at all. But I do use ZoneAlarm (free version). There are free AV programs out there that are very good.

If you're going to buy SysyemWorks 2003 Pro... Go to a popular auction site and get it for less than $10 shipped. It's well worth the cash.
