I just got in on the "Hot Deals" NSW 2001 Professional Edition for $18 (now $15) and it seems like a really nice set of useful programs.

However, I notice it leaves a lot of monitoring software in the start-up menu (System Doctor, Anti-Virus, etc., etc.). Aside from the Anti-Virus, what is really necessary and what is bloat?

I dont leave any of it in start-up. I use them only when needed.

AV 24/7 or suffer the consequences!!! I'm always installing stuff, so I leave the CleanSweep stuff on, but it's not necessary. Only other thing I have is the System Doctor and that's only showing CPU usage. (Some progs hang secretly and I can spot it when it hits 100% for no reason. It crashes a lot though, so I may ditch it.)

I got it on the Hot Deal too. Pro for $20! Schweet!!!

Thank-you for the tips.

Yes, it was an awesome deal (and it's still going on for $15). I found quite a few of the utilities pretty helpful and rather useful but to leave everything running in startup took at least 10% of system resources.

It has Speed disk, System, Win and Disk Doctor, along with the registry tracker and editors, AntiVirus, Clean Sweep, Ghost and WinFax and tons of diagnostics.
