I did a search and didn't see this deal posted yet. At Circuit City they have System Works 2001 for 59.00, a 20.00 instant rebate and a 20.00 Circuit City MIR, in the box you get a 20.00 upgrade rebate from Symantec! No it's not the pro version, but for retail boxed and free what the heck!

i wouldnt take that if you gave it to me. i have to friends that think that software is the bomb. in reality, it is total crap and just makes your machine run slower, steals ram, and overall crap. it just gets in teh way of normal everyday use. its a total pain. i dont knwo why anybody woudl ever pay MONEY for this crap. get the Norton antivirus and be done with it. none of that BS system works crap

Isn't the SpeedDisk utility pretty good? Better than the defragger that comes with Win2k?

There's a lot of trash talk about SystemWorks. There are several utilities that make $15 a flaming hot deal. Ghost, Speeddisk, even WinDoctor are great utilities, and having the utilities as a suite means integration, to a point. Yeah, the AntiFreeze can be like peeing on an electric fence but hey... ;)

Also, for those people who may not be the biggest techno-geeks, something that does a mediocre job of watching out for them is great.

This version of Norton is not too bad. Some very useful stuff, SpeedDisk and NDoctor, and NAVirus, all work nice for me. Previous versions had big bugs and were big hogs, but this one is worth having.

come on. there are a few utilities in system works that are incredibly useful. how can you say it makes your machine run slower and steals memory.... any program left running while not in use steals memory. the trick here is to disable it from starting up automatically on bootup.. just turn it on when you use it and off when you dont need it anymore. speed disk really does cut down access time especially if you are using a fixed swap file placed in the front of the disk. GHOST is a perfect backup program. nregedit is way better than ms regedit -- bookmarking the registry makes navigation so much easier. i picked myself up a copy at directdeals a few days ago, i expect ups tomorrow.
