Norton Speed Disk (Defrag) Question

This thing has been bugging me and I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

I have WinXP. When I run Norton Speed Disk (Defrag), there is one small "System File" block that remains unoptimized, indicating that it is a file that is in use. Everything is closed out in my system tray (except the clock) and Task Manager says there are no applications running, although there are quite a few "Processes" running. Any idea what system file could be running in the background that I ned to shut down to have the defrag completely optimize my hard drive?

Norton is optimizing the swap file (Norton assigns the swap file with distinctly colored blocks on the map of the drive). So it must be another system file in use.

I think speeddisk does the best job I have seen. I have used two or three third party defragmenters. I like speeddisk.

One area that most defraggers don't touch is the area where System Restore info is stored although this is not a small file by any means.

If you want a truly great defragmenter for Win2000/XP and run NTFS, get Executive Software's Diskeeper. It does a much better overall job because it allows boot time defragmentation of the Master File table and the Paging File. These items cannot be defraged safely while the OS is running. It's also the only NT/Win2000 defragging program certified to run on extremely mission criticial corporate systems.
