I have Norton Utilities on my comp, and I have norton protection on my recycling bin. It says that I have 1500 norton protected files. What are these files, and why are they norton protected??

Basically they are the files that you have deleted and Norton has them saved in case you want those files back.

Norton Protected Recycle bin (piece of CRAP) saves all files fitting certain preset criteria to prevent you from permently nuking possibly important stuff. Basically, it thinks you are an idiot of tremendous proportions that can't be trusted with the Delete key.
Just empty the bin, and disable the NPRB.

Yeah on the whole norton is ok but for god's sake right click on the recycle bin and click on "disable Norton Protected Recycle bin" and save yourself a headache,.
