Norton Or McAfee ??

I am in the market for one of these utility packs. What are the pro and cons I should be aware of? I've heard good and bad about both. I guess the best question would be waht are you guys running??

I'm looking for something that contains both, I've never run antivirus and my disk utilities are windows and a few freeware programs.

I think Norton is your best bet.

If ya do get Norton Utilities or System Works don't enable full time system monitor for everything. Just the Anti-Virus. The rest of the features are resource hogs.

I have Norton SystemWorks 2001 and works good for me.😀 Yeah just enable the anti-virus and the do the rest manually ass needed.

On a related note......

Are there any known conflicts between Win 98SE and Norton SystemWorks 2001? Every time I install it, my dialup connection keeps dropping sporadically. I have narrowed it down somewhat. I kept AntiVirus and Winfax Basic on and all works well.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Sam D.

BTW - I Love Norton and have used it for the past year and a half with no problems.

I vote for Ontrack SystemSuite V3,yes I know it`s not Norton or McAfee but this Utilities program has virtually everything, it`s very good & 100% stable(I`ve been using since last December) go here for info.

🙂

Samitis,

To uninstall LiveUpdate:
1. From the Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Select LiveUpdate from the list and then click Add/Remove.

Ok, sounds good.

But if I did that, how would I keep my virus defs current? Isn't that how it checks them? How do you know that this will solve the problem? Thanks for the help, I look forward to your reply.

Take care,
Sam D.

Wow... Not even a mention about McAfee. I guess system works is the way to go. Whats so special about the Professional edition?. Hope to hear a couple more opinions, just to sum things up
