ok, a while back i got some type of virus and was wiped out(ugh) so i go t a firewall using norton...ok.

i get alerts almost twice a day. is this just programs getting them, or people trying to bust in again? i know about the log, but usually says ip and N/A for everything else.

how easy is it to break into someones comp via a connection as like in cable? would resetting the modem every couple of hours or so help?

and i have a second comp networked to it, if i unistall all the drivers for that, would it help? or am i always volnerable as long as i have cable?

btw, hackers suck. get a life. quit messing with peoples data.

Yes, you will always be in danger as long as the cable modem is connected to your PC... resetting the modem every couple of hours would not really help, cuz a lot can be done between the time you reset your modem...

If you have an unused PC handy, you can try connecting that to the cable modem instead and share the connection... If the network is configured properly it can be quite hard to go thru the network to your other "useful" PC to do any damage. And if your server PC contains no data, even if hackers can get it you wont lose anything... So the server PC will take the hits, and will offer another layer of protection to your real data...
