Norton Internet security 2010 OR 360?

Both PCworld and antivirus.com has listed Internet Security 2010 as #1 this year so i'm going to get it. I currently have Eset 4.0 but norton got way better performance and i thought Eset performed well.

I wondered why 360 was not listed...isnt it exactly the same as 2010 or does it use a different scanning engine? Which one is better? Their site isnt much information on the actual differences aside 360 has some cleaning tools and storage. The auto cleaning tools would be nice, but want to make sure that 360 has the updated engine as well.

2010 is just the antivirus, unless you get the security suite. 360 has some other tools. I would get antivirus 2010, it seems less bloated. You probably won't use the other tools.

If you need a new antivirus, I would try microsoft security essentials. It is free and scores in the top with eset, kapersky, etc.

Also if you have comcast, they are giving norton for free. Check if your isp gives you free software.

They are definitely different products. Security Suite allows more user settings and is more advanced. 360 is aimed at the folks who want security but really don't want do mess with the software. I think 360 also has some on-line back-up features bundled. The Symantec forums: http://community.norton.com/norton/ should have some threads that explain the differences. I compared in detail several years ago and chose Security Suite and have liked it enough to stay with it.

The Security Suite products prior to the 2008 version, totally sucked. They required too many resources and had too much bloat. Someone at Symantec finally saw the "light" and completly redesigned the product begining with 2008 (I hope they do not screw it up again). I like it more than any of other Security packages that I haved used. It is fast, uses few resources and doesn't annoy me with a lot of false alarms.

Symantec now let you upgrade to a newer version if one is released before the end of your one-year subscription.
