Okay, I seem to be having a helluva time with this combination.

I got Comcast Cable Modem Internet access, and I have WinXP Home. I got Norton Internet Security 2004 w/NAV.

Well, it seems to cause freezes in all types of programs, especially Outlook Express while downloading email for the first time, and with Internet Explorer.

also seems to render the Task Manager "stop programs" applet from working. As in, I try to stop program, and it never seems to actually stop the program.

I can't find any fixes for this, does anyone have similar issues? Does anyone have any worthwhile solutions here? Thanks.

what is zone alarm and avg?

Do they do all the stuff that Norton IS and AV do, without the annoying crashes and whatnot?

just a little bump, if anyone has any "anecdotes", i.e. "zone alarm is great, norton IS bites, used them both, etc"

thanks all.

Uh, no.
I used to use Zone Alarm, & i certainly cannot say it works better than Norton's Firewall.
I dislike NIS 2004, however.
Something in it made my 'net surfing ultra slow, for me anyway, so i got rid of it & use just NAV.

Get yourself a cheap router with NAT and Panda Titanium Antivirus and use some common sense.
