Well, sort of. You can find more info. at www.symantec.com regarding this question but in short, you can create an image of win2k but only write the image to a fat partition if your win2k is using ntfs (no compatibility problem if win2k is using a fat partition). If you're using a norton ghost corporate version (I think version 7.something & higher), the ntfs problem is not a factor as long as you don't save the image in a local partition.

If you can, try PowerQuest's Drive Image. I think it's a little easier & can write an image to either a fat or ntfs partition.

NTFS under NT 4.0 and W2k are identical as long as you don't upgrade any disks to dynamic disks.

Using Ghost 6.0 here with no trouble.

NTFS is indeed different between NT4 and 2000 (NT5). In fact, any pre-SP4 instance of NT4 cannot read NTFS volumes created with Win2K/XP.

I AM USING THAT VERY CONFIGURATION.

No problems. YOu will get one thing, after finishing the image, and rebooting, you will get a bunch of "Inserting String" errors on chkdsk (auto run from win2k).

Don't worry. Don't cry. The image will be fine. Just let win2k run.

If you want to keep ghost, look at the 7.5 upgrade. But keep 5.1d around, you may not be able to get all of your images to update.

BE good!!
