Norton Ghost Question.......HELP!!!!

I currently have a Western Digital 80GB (Special Edition) HDD with WinXP Pro as my primary HDD. Currently I am only using about 15GB of the HDD. Have been thinking about getting a WD 36GB Raptor SATA HDD.

Is there a way for Ghost 2003 to copy all my stuff from my 80GB HDD to the 36GB HDD so that all I have to do is just copy the files and plug in the Raptor and boot without any problems???

What commands would i need. Never used Ghost 2003 before.

Apparently there have been some problems with migrating XP to a different HDD using Ghost 2003. I'm not sure if XP will require re-activation or re-entering the Windows CD Key or what.
 
So with Ghost having problems copying to another drive, it sounds that if my HD fails and I go to restore XP from a ghost image, I could run into problems? If that is correct, what good is ghost then for Xp? And what alternative programs are there?

Also, is there a way to create a CD Boot Disk to run Ghost. I have laptops with no floppy to boot from.
 
The problem you are referring to is based on how XP figures its serial. When you activate it, it gives you a code based on a mathematical formula based on the serial numbers of a bunch of the hardware in your box, including the hard drive. If you switch the drive, the serial number will change therefore changing the math formula and your key will not match.

All you should have to do is call MS and tell them you got a new hard drive and need to reactivate.
