Norton Ghost 9.0 not a good buy?

I was looking to get this to back up things since I dont like using system restore when something goes terribly wrong and reformatting is a pain. But the Pricegrabber.com user reviews are particularly harsh toward this program. Is 9.0 a known lemon or do these users maybe not know what they're doing? A lot of the reviews mention things like NG being incompatible with SATA or backups not even working, XP being corrupted etc. Thought Id try and get some feedback from you guys first before I ran away.
