Norton GHOST 2003 Question

Periodically I would backup my system with Ghost on my DVDR-W. The first time I did it I would format my hard drive and install everything fresh including all the applications that I normally use and it came out to about 3.6 gig. and I would reinstalled from the back up disc when my drive crashes and if there's so much junk on my PC and need to start out fresh again. I love it. it saves me so much time instead of reinstalling everything one at a time.

Here's my problem. I tried to back it up again after I updated some application that I use. Instead of having 3.6 gig on my hard drive I ended up with over 5 gig. Some of the application that I updated is only 2 to 3 meg. How did I ended up with extra 2 gig.

I went to my C drive. Double click and hightlighed all the files on my C drive and check uder properties. It shows that I only have 3.6 gig.

When I tried to back it up I have to insert two Blank DVD because it's over 4.7 gig.
Could someone please tell me why it's doing that.

Any answer would be greatly appreciated.

delete temp files and internet files.

5 gig partition will fit onto a DVD RW. Just use highest compression.

If you have Norton SystemWorks installed, make sue you have the protected files feature disabled. Also check to see how much space is being taken up by the restore feature in XP.
