Office Depot has Norton Anti-Virus 2007 free after rebate ($30 MIR) with NO upgrade rebate for those who are running out of proofs of purchase from other products or for those who just don't have anything to upgrade from.

Hm... free is good. But as time goes by, Norton detects less & less new virii.

The other day I found 6 more virii using AntiVir http://www.free-av.com/ that Norton failed to detect and some of them were files that were a year and a half old.

When you add that to how much Norton slows down even the fastest systems today, I wonder if it's time to finally ditch it, even if it's free?


I mean Norton was just independently tested to slow down the system so that it takes 72% longer to boot to desktop when compared to AntiVir which was also independently tested to find more virii than Norton.
 
I wouldn't doubt that all your points have merit. As for me, I have Norton Corporate, have never gotten a virus, and don't care about boot time, so, at least for now, if it ain't broke I'm not going to fix it. 🙂 Maybe I'll add an additional free program sometime so thanks for the link.
 
I'm wondering if there is even an upgrade rebate available on this one? If so, you can make a few $ after rebate. I have searched, but could not find anything.

...I got one for free after MIR and $20 for upgrade a few months back.🙂
No upgrade rebate for this version though.

 
Just checked OD and they only have the single user Norton AV 2007.

If you have Fry's in your area, they are selling their "3 user license" Norton for FAR...linky.

You can get it online too but shipping is like $7 something for ground.

Just a heads up. The Fry's rebate ends tomorrow (10/26) and, like the OD one, comes in the form of a Visa debit card.
