Symantec products function well on all my computers. Corporate antivirus on some and Antivirus 2009 on others. Never a virus and never a problem.

allisolm, Agreed.

Doomer, I doubt you've actually seen Norton 2009 in action, which, by the way, is MUCH better than what Symantec has put out in the past. If you'd used the 2009 stuff, you'd know how awesome it is.

And for the low low price of free, you can't really beat that.

It's just difficult to try something that has historically been so awful (at least in my experience, and perhaps Doomers)

Rip, I agree, but I recently got a new job where they prefer to use norton and 2009 is really great. One of the better anti-virus programs I have ever used. First antivirus software that I have liked more than eset.

To be fair, you don't get this deal for free if you don't already have a Norton/Symantec product on-hand to qualify for the Upgrade MIR of $20.

Well, no. That's not true.

"For previous owners of a stand-alone, retail (boxed or downloaded) or pre-loaded version of any Norton? or Symantec? software or another company?s antivirus, firewall, antispam, antispyware, utility, or back up software product"

Users of older versions of Norton security products can visit our upgrade center for information on how to get the latest versions of their products."

So it would seem the answer is yes, via their Live Update after Win 7 is released.

I didn't catch the "another company's" part on my read-through this morning. That does seem like a pretty liberal "upgrade" MIR. The only ones it doesn't apply to are those of us that use open source or free (as in beer) virus protection.
