Couldn't you just exit out of your antivirus when you game and accomplish the same thing if it was that big of a deal?

Wow . . . where did they find the model for that pic? Gamers are real people with real normal jobs, they are indistinguishable from the person passing you on the street or the person behind you in line at the grocery store.

The gamer stereotype gets the point across quicker than a guy in a casual business suit. the concept isn't a bad idea. I imagine it'll sell pretty well. As for me, I schedule my different disturbances for times I'm not active at the computer.

I've been hearing good things about the latest Norton. I'd be willing to try them again. As it is, I use free Antivir, and would pay for it if necessary.

Sounds good, "looks" horrid.

But really, they should as one simple question to figure out what version you need.

Q- Do you know what a CPU is?
A- Yes: You will notice any performance drop, you will realize if it sucks and you might have a clue what you're doing.
A- No: You require everything to be done automatically because you don't know how. The number one goal is to make sure nothing is screwed up on your computer even if it makes you more open to hacking & viruses because you can not fix it.

Meh, I just use symantec corporate edition I get for free from my school (still have access since I'm an alumni). Zero bloat and simple GUI plus free updates for life.

Hah, I remember when I used to raid in WoW and you'd hear people say, "Ahh shit, my game is acting so slow." "Did your anti-virus just kick in?" "Ohhh yeah, stupid Norton" Make it so your antivirus will delay itself if it detects a game running (could potentially be a hazard for viruses to abuse so it'd need to be a little smart) and that'd be fine. The biggest problem with AVs during WoW is that WoW is really heavy on HDD use (especially if you're moving around a lot) and so is your anti-virus. Ever try and watch a video off your HDD while playing WoW? Usually not a great idea (I've done it with two WoWs up while both were in Dalaran... ouch lol).

If anyone here is familiar with the female quake voice sounds, can you not picture your PC screaming "Holy shit!" as you get infected? That would be so funny I'd do it on purpose. ;)

LOL...I laughed so hard. Good one there ;)

It might also say "Dominating!" too when it has eliminated 5+ viruses/malware in succession.

Actually, the D-Link gaming routers are very configurable and include a GbE switch within them. At the time I bought mine, it was the only option if I didn't want to use a router and GbE switch for my home network. The QoS features are quite welcome too.

I have one as well... it's alright. The LEDs are bright as hell though.

Isn't that from UT 2004? Or did Quake do that as well?

Norton is for tools. one of our clients could not connect to a shared drive and was having trouble with a VPN connection. Guess who the culprit was? The Norton 2009 trial had expired on their PCs, and upon expiration, it had blocked their VPN connection. Another uninstalled Norton 2009 using the uninstall option (rather than download the Norton Removal tool) and that cause network issues as well. Had to download and use the removal tool once we figured out what the issue was. Avoid Norton. It will cause you grief eventually. And never ever ever think that "things are better now." I wonder if Norton causes problems on purpose...

edit: oh yeah, this was this past week, not 2 years ago.
