Northwest Airlines

Does anyone have any experience with them? I have been searching sites for a trip this April and will be flying from Detroit to San Diego. NWA had the cheapest price @ 250$ compared to 320-640 for other airlines. Wonder if there is anything to be warry of with such a cheap price.

my parents just flew them portland OR to Kansas City MO and back
no problems, they are just like all the other bankrupt airlines

I've used NW a lot of times and have had no issues. I have been using it for connecting flights to international carriers (KLM). So it was always important that I get to my next destination on time and I've never had any problems.

flew them from singapore to tokyo at the end of november, nothing wrong with them. nothing particularly amazing, either. unless you're in worldbusiness. the video system was on demand, rather than a tape that gets broadcast across the whole plane, which was nice.

I only fly NW, partly because it's hub is in detroit... and because all my miles are there... never had a problem. (I've fly about 4 times a year or so) My dad who is Platinum Elite with NW, flys multiple times a month (sometimes a week) and never has had a problem.

McNamara terminal is very nice.

QFT! I have only flown once for business on NWA, and I had only avoided them until that point because co-workers told me they were horrible. I had a pleasant experience, and even though I was delayed by a few hours in Detroit (because the flight I was on to Detroit left late due to de-icing and snow), the experience was very pleasant. They rebooked me on the next flight, and gave me a $10 voucher for meals, as well as a voucher for $50-$150 off a flight.

It was very pleasant spending time in that terminal...I ate in a nice restaraunt, and watched a giant 747 park right next to the window I was sitting next to.

How about that freaky multi-colored lighted tunnel? It's like a big acid trip or something..lol.

same reason I've flown with them from their hub in Minneapolis. No problems the couple times I've flown with them since moving up here. There's no free peanuts or sandwich though. They offer snack packs for $5. I find it easier to just bring something with me onto the plane.

No problem with them. Have flown thousands of miles with them over the last 5 years (shuttling between here and SEA at least 4 times a year).

They're the same as any other major airline.

At the A-concourse in Detroit there is a McDonalds right in the very middle (by the tunnel to the rest of the airport). It has normal priced food! Quite amazing for an airport restaurant.

I flew Southwest the other day and at the end of the flight they told us they appreciated our business and they also indicated it would be alright to send letters telling corporate what a pleasant flight we had because they included that type of thing in personel files.

They also went on to say that valid complaints should be sent to their Northwest office.

I thought it was kind of funny 🙂

From Detriot (a NW hub) I don't think you're going to have many options. I hear their economy product isn't very good (seat comfort and in-flight entertainment.) Although if you rarely fly I doubt you'd notice any difference between them and any other carrier.
