Who cares about pretzels.
If I can keep finding round trips for less than $250, they can cut everything else.
I usually prepared myself with snacks and a drink before I get on a flight anyway.

Northwest is losing money and they need to cut costs.

This is just one of many.

And cutting $2 mil from their CEO's salary and bonus package couldn't POSSIBLY have been an easier way to do that?

Total compensation for Anderson, Northwest CEO, was $2,802,788 for the year ended Dec. 31. His compensation was up 126.3 percent from the previous year's total compensation of $1,238,305.

but CEO's provide so much to companies....

Who else is going to make horrible decisions and get paid millions of dollars to do so?

OH great $2 million more in bonuses for the Top Executives and more layoffs at the same time.

That is from 2003. Also in that article was this:

The bulk of the pay for both executives came from options on stock that cannot be sold for years and would require the shares to rise in value in order for Anderson and Steenland to profit.

Also, in addition to high fuel costs and the occasional 1/2 full plane, consider that is costs anywhere from $1,000 to $8,000 for an airliner just to land at the airport (major cities). Most airlines are struggling so bad right now that I wouldn't be suprized that everything on domestic flights will have to be paid for very soon (including pop and water).

He said pulling the free pretzels should save $2 million a year.

I wonder if that factors in the logistics of handling the exchange of funds, aka processing and paperwork. They probably will break even in actuality but up front if it looks good on paper...

They can send extras my way even if they are a little stale!
