I have a Northgate 8599 notebook. I know that the video card it came with is built into the motherboard. I called the techsupport and asked them about upgrading to a different videocard so that i could play a game on here. They told me i couldn't do it. Do any of you know if its possible for me to put a good video card in here so that i can actually play a game like Half Life 2??? Also i am having random shutdowns every now and then. I have my laptop sitting on a sort of stand so that air can flow in and out of it unrestricted. For the first month or so, it would only shut down about once a week. Now it shuts down randomly everynight. Anyone have any ideas? I appreciate the help.

Short of replacing the entire motherboard, you're stuck. With the exception of a few Alienware laptops and the Dell XPS/9100, no laptops have upgradeable graphics.
