Hmmm I seem to recall some faction from NYC wanting to split off from the rest of NY state once upon a time, lol, we upstaters would have been more than happy to let em suceed from us🙂

I don't understand this either....it's like Washington state wanting to get rid of the entire Seattle area....why would you off such a huge tax base?

Well here is my experiance having lived in California (Southern that is) for most of my life (born there and stuff) When I was about 23 I moved north up to the Sacremento area. Very nice place, anyhow as soon as I told folks I was from LA they got kinda nasty "LA sucks" and "southern cal sucks" was often heard. I resorted to telling people I was from San Diego as that went over a little better 😛
All was well until they asked "the" question "So, what do people in southern California think about us?" And I had to answer, We dont.

Seriously its so strange that so many people I met had this strange obsesion with southern California, when quite honestly people down south dont really have an opinion on the northern folks.... at all.

Anyhow before I get flamed from the northern Cal folks please note that I dont even live in CA anymore. I was kicked out and deported to Indiana about 7 years back, sumthin about me not being Communist enough.... 🙂 🙂 🙂

Though right about now (11f outside) I would grab a little red book and catch the next plane back if circumstances permited

you speak the truth. it is a one-sided rivalry, like stanford-berkeley.

Some in the southern 6 counties of Mississippi (aka, the ones that aren't dirt poor) have been talking about splitting from the rest of the state. It would devistate the northern part, but would be a boone for those in the south. Being from southern Mississippi, I really wouldn't mind, assuming Northern Mississippi could survive.

So true. I'm going to school at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, which is almost right in the middle of NorCal and SoCal. Technically it's SoCal but I think it gets enough rain to be considered NorCal. Anyway, the school is funny because half are from NorCal-Bay Area and the other half is from SoCal-LA, SD. It was pretty weird with the World Series, half rooted for Angels, other half Giants and no one in the middle. The funniest thing is when someone from San Jo, my roommate calls it that, will run off a sentence with every other word being hella. Of course, I start cracking up because I had heard that word maybe once in San Diego.

PLEASE! SoCal can keep their smog and democrats. We NorCal folks will happily keep our water. Barren SoCal is a drain on NorCal's natural resources. If they have the economy to keep their half the state running, good for them.

most tof the tax dollars come from southern california, so nor cal would be hit the hardest if they did split.
