Northbridge temps..

So, I have been noticing my video card gets really hot and blows hot air on my northbridge. I bought the Antec Super Cyclone slot blower to help get the hot air out of the case, but it hasn't come yet.

However, I took off the stock heatsink/fan on the chipset and put some AS5 on there to try and help. When I run Speedfan it says my northbridge temp is 98C!! Is this even possible? If I touch the heatsink it feels warm but not too hot, is the temp monitor thing broken?

I don't know what the temps were before I tried to apply the AS5, as I just found out about Speedfan and how to view my NB temps...

Any ideas?

My mobo is MSI K8N Neo4-F, video card x1800xt w/Accelero X2

Its because ur blowing the hot air from the video card onto the nb. Look at ur temps for ur 1800xt. Or does it always say 98C?

Ehh, my video card idles at 45 and goes up to 55ish load.

I restarted a couple times and now Speedfan lists my NB temps at 29C, so I dunno what the hell was going on, lol...

Most likely the temp sensor is wrong. On my gigabyte Nforce 4 mobo with passive N-Bridge HSF, the temp hovers around 80C , measured using a sensor.

98C is 208F.
If you got those temps, you would definitely smell something cooking. For sure.
Try using a thermometer to check before using any further.
