Northbridge on MSI KT266a boards

Was wondering if anyone has replaced the stock heatsink with a heastink/fan combination and if so which ones are you guys using? I see it appears to be held in place with two of those plastic push pins, can those be easily removed or do I need to remove the mb and get at the backside to pop them out, or is there some epoxy on the northbridge also holding it in place?

I was looking at the thermaltake blue orb, or if anyone knows where I swear I seen a chrome one too....would these work for a replacement? Im just looking to up the cooling abilities a lil bit and dress up the unit (Im also going to attempt the same trick on a Radeon 8500). Got that window in the side of my new case so I spose I better have all kinds of neat stuff in there to gawk at!!!

Thanks in advance

The blorb and crystal orb will work fine as replacements. Crystal orb isn't on the market yet... hardware reviews sites had been reviewing them over the last week or two. Also the Crystal orb will be about $20... kind of expensive to put it on something that really doesn't need active cooling in the first place. The Northbridge runs pretty cool on the KT266A boards even @ higher bus speeds... so aside from looks, it isn't going to gain you much, if at all in higher speeds. Memory is more of a factor as well as periperals that can stand out of stock clockspeeds.

Put a blorb if you feel the need on the northbridge, but save the crystal orb for your video card... where it will do the most good.

Cool thanks! I know the northbridge doesnt really need the cooling, but hell man you look right in the window and theres that plain old yellow northbridge heatsink sitting there. Besides, seems like all the other mbs have some sort of heatsink fan on it. So far Ive got the bus up to 143 on mine, think either the NIC or SB Live is probably holding me back but either way I guess I should be happy I got it that far.

I'll have to look into the two you mentioned, I knew I seen somewhere a new heatsink fan that was supposed to be pretty good/trick looking.

Thanks
