Northbridge is a bit loud...

I use an Abit IC7-G mobo and the northbridge fan is quite loud. It sounds like it's stopping, then running super fast for about half a second and then going off again for half a second. It doesn't appear to be hurting anything but dang it's annoying. Anything I can do to fix it?

The NB fan on my IC7-G runs loud if I have don't have "Smart Fan Enabled".
But sometimes, even with Smart Fan Enabled my NB fan acts like yours. Most of the time I run it disabled and just put up with it a little louder.

those fans are cheap
mine got loud then went out on me awhile back
i recommend to check for dust, and maybe even replace it

Abit makes awfull nb fans.
I would replace it.
Try to get one from Abit or rma the board.
