Northbridge Fan ?

Today I heard a buzzing sound comming from the computer and as it turuned out that it was comming from the northbridge fan ... the fan is hitting the fan gaurd .... I donot OC and was wondering if I remove the fan will it effect the systems stability ??

On most systems, a NB fan really isn't required, and is usually one of the noisiest parts of the system. If you're really concerned, pm me your address and I'll send you a free heatsink.

Your system will probably be just fine.

thanx RussianSoldier .... the NB has a heatsink on it plus the fan ..... so I should be ok with just the HS .... thanks again for the offer

many users disconnect the NB fan and simply use passive cooling anyway...

Just unpluged the fan and rebooted ..... what a a difference .... will keep an eye on the MB temps .... but I think I'll be OK

First boot with my brand new Abit NF7-S R2 and my NB fan was buzzing too, same reason as yours was. All I did was take off the fan cover and bend it out away from the fan blades. Now it's quiet.

RussianSoldier, what kind of passive NB cooler is it that you offered to blodhi74? I'm looking for a nice silent NB cooler myself, I miss my Zalman NB32J.

just an el-cheapo heatsink that I pulled off an old motherboard. My goal is to one day cover my case in them...
