Northbridge fan necessary on a Biostar M7VKD??

The original fan is beginning to show it's age with lots of complaining noises. Do I need to replace the fan or will a heatsink be enough to keep the thing cool. There is no OC on this system nor is there heavy gaming. BTW, Its a VIA KT133A chipset.

You can us a passive heat sink with a drop of heatsink grease (As3) and it will be fine. You dont need active cooling unless you are overclocked really.
