The northbridge fan on my Abit KT7-RAID board squeals at startup, but after a minute or two it's fine, but annoying nonetheless.
Is this fan essential for proper cooling, or can I just unplug it? Thanks!
There is a sticker on the fan. Carefully pull it up part way and put a single drop of light oil on the bearing point. Then replace the sticker. Noise should go away and fan should turn freely. *I have heard that computer fans are never suppose to be oiled, because it puts oil in the air or some rational like that, but I have oiled many fans and never had problems*
.................edit.................
P.S. Welcome to the forum.......................😀
you can unplug it but you might have to buy a new mobo soon.. better to replace it, a lot of sites sell northbridge fan.. like 2cooltek, cpucold.com or coldcpu.com, so many site.. recommend 2cooltek
