Hi, i dont post on these forums much, but i have a serious problem, my Northbridge Fan on my A bit IC7-G Max II is dying. It makes like a noise where it is about to shut off. It runs fast on startup and then slows way down, almost to the point where i can see it go around in circles.

I need to buy a new fan and i need to know what is the best for my mobo. Also is this fan dying a major problem, because my dad is out of town and i have school/game. It still has a heatsink.

I have found if there is a fan there it usually is well needed! if the fan goes out don't run your board untill it is replace, no since in frying the board if you want to try to fix it. I would say go to a local computer show to find a replacement. Mobo fan replacements are a custom buy. Maybe try pricewatch.com.

Just clean it off and lube it.

I also have an IC7. Disassembled the heatsink fan, cleaned off the dust bunnies, peeled off the sticker on the back, dropped a drop of lubricating oil into the exposed spindle, re-sticked the sticker, remounted the fan, re-thermal greased and mounted the assembled HSF, and put it on a fan controller. VOILA. Nice and quiet once again.
