i took this pic this morning coming back from the area, it's about 40 miles away from the fire but it's still smoky as hell here (smells bad too): http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/johncu/fire.jpg

my mom (teacher) called and said they're evacuating kids from schools around there and if they weren't picked up by 10:30 am they were shipped to other schools in the county.

That air quality looks like a typical summer day here...

I saw a story this morning about this. It's been about 35 years since I was in Myrtle Beach...but it was nice back then.

Saw this headline at the bottom of the page:
Myrtle Beach man accused in 2008 firecracker attack, facing sex charge

The article wasn't nearly as interesting as I expected. 🙁

woah, I used to go to Myrtle Beach a lot. Specifically we always stayed at a campground in south myrtle beach, near Surfside Beach actually.
For tourism, I love that city... although its pretty grimy without the tourism, unless you get into the more newly-developed housing regions.

I wonder if my ex-Boss's house was one of the ones that for toasted... that would be way funny.

They've had two firefighter fire shelter deployments by tractor plow operators and one tractor plow burn over on this fire. No injuries. The vegetation burns like California chaparral.

Myrtle Beach must have some inexperienced firefighters.

Megan Brogan, 29, said her husband, Mark Torchi, was issued the citation. She said a garbage burn got out of control on Saturday, they called 911, and the fire department came to put it out. On Wednesday, she said, the fire apparently reignited.

It sounds more like Megan & her hubby are pyros.
I had dinner in Myrtle Beach twice last week.🙁

I've always thought Myrtle beach needed a good purging. sucks for the locals, though 🙁
