So what happens when he dies of old age or some old age related disease?

Does the military general take over and then unify the Koreas like Germany?

I read on wikipedia that he has brothers in mid level political positions, but none of them military. I doubt they would be able to seize control from a general or a group of generals.

And where does he get that crazy hair from? His dad had normal asian hair. Hes got some kind of afro thing going on.
 
Probably takeover by the military or a high-ranking Communist Party official. Either that, or the Chinese move in and install a puppet gvt as a buffer against the South Koreans/SEATO. I don't think that they'd be too keen on unification of the peninsula under the guidance of Seoul, SK.
 
He probably has a clone made for him. If not, he has a number of sons, surely one of them will inherit his power of rule.
 
I?m not sure anyone knows. That country is kept so locked up and secret that it is hard to guess at what happens.

The people look at him as a god like figure; maybe after he dies they will look at the state of their country and demand change. However, they have no idea how bad they have it compared to the rest of the world.
 
The South might invade if the information gets out quickly and his successor (appointed, obviously) is not able to take command quickly.

Or China could step in. Or Japan.

It might be a real power struggle on the peninsula. What I want to know is, how has he not been assassinated yet?

The View (TV show) of all people did a good story on this. One of their former hosts went to NK with some doctors, pretended to be a nurse, and restored the sight to people who had lost it.

She said that many times they first thing they would do is turn to a pic of Kim and bow down and pay their respects. Maybe they were scared or maybe they were truthful, but for the most part the people of NK have NO idea what the rest of the world is like.

If I put you on an island for 50 years and gave you a little bit of new technology here and there I could most likely convince you that you are living as good a life as the rest of the world and you would never know any better.
 
The two Koreas will unite again eventually. Wouldn't surprise me if that begins to happen when the current NK dictator croaks.

 
Given the economic disparity between North and South Korea, we could all hope for a bail out just like West Germany absorbing East Germany. Except that North Korea is even more of basket case. The downside is that the South Korea might then try to continue developing the North Korean armaments supplying business.

But its may all be academic anyway. In a long term future, look for China to gobble up both Korea's.
 
The Kuomintang won the recent election in Taiwan. Looks like Taiwan will join the mainland soon to start things off.
 
He will probably die and they will prop his body up and have a ventiliquist(sp) speak the party line for him. Wasnt it China or N. Korea that had a leader die and eventually a few months after the fact it was finally leaked? The official govt response was a super imposed head of the leader in some flood driven river with washed out bridges claiming to be proof he is alive because he was going for a mid day swim?
