North Korea sets off its 3rd nuclear test

Looks like they did it

So what do you think happens now? There really doesn't seem to be much in the way of sanctions left to enact, and I doubt the North Korean regime would be responsive anyways. I would think this should be a a big red line not just to the US and South Korea, but the entire world not just because of the act itself but the provocative nature in which it was performed.

Although certainly a scary prospect for the South Koreans, I think a globally coordinated swift and decisive regime change is desperately being called for. NK is a basket case which in and of itself is their right to be, but the fact that on top of that they appear so war hungry is extremely destabilizing to the entire region and that should not be allowed to stand.

I think the next few days and weeks are going to be really interesting to see how things unfold. What will be the response from China, who already said they would not tolerate a nuclear test? What about Japan?

What has this got to do with the church?

Bigger than anything we have seen? It's certainly not good but it's pretty much par for the course for NK.

Back to OP.

The problem with regime change is that the population is totally brain washed and utterly starving.

Even if the international community took over with a minimum of blood shed it would still be a nightmare.

Shut down NK borders. There are still more sanctions that can be done. Just shut the fucker down.

Yep, it may sound harsh to the people but I think the best course of action is to completely shut down all relations with NK. Let the country implode. This is of course assuming the population is actually brain washed. The intelligence community should really find out what kind of support a regime change would garner.

Can the sea coast be legally shut down.
NK has land borders with Russia and China as well as SK.

Those two countries have control over a shutdown.

This is not like Cuba where one country could enforce a non air blockade

You would need buy-in from all the bordering countries. I doubt it happens, so chances are instead NK continues on as it has been.

Let it be a nightmare hoisted up out of the darkness via their own neighbors. If China wants some recognition from the international community then they can save NK from itself.

Unless we want to take preemptive military action due to their nuclear program, but that's another story. Best non violent means of containing the North Korean threat is to improve our missile defense, and finally implement it with lasers.

I'd imagine that NKs neighbours would be the ones that pay the highest price regardless of who acts. There's going to be millions of starving brainwashed NK citizens heading over their borders if the regime goes down.

That doesn't really solve the problem though. It just kicks the can down the road a few years.

Was this intended for another thread? 🙂
