North Korean press release, "North Korea does not fail, Kim Jong Un is a great leader. Saboteurs will be rounded up and dealt with." I hope those poor sods working in the North Korean space program ate well before the launch.

I thought this thing would explode. I want to laugh, but honestly I believe that some people will end up dead if not at least in a gulag over this. Would HATE to be a scientist working on such a high visibility project for North Korea.

Seeing how the launch failed - will the US sanctions still apply?

I give em props for trying. What are we doing in the USA next year on the Obama budget? How about a 20% cut again for NASA. Sheesh... Why don't we just shit can the entire space program. Might get high speed rail I guess. At least some country is trying to keep the space program alive. Tho, I hope they were trying to launch a satellite.

I remember the Obama admin announcing how NK agreed to drop their weapons program in exchange for aid. I took a little grief from some for giving kudos to Obama.

Some deal. It lasted a matter of weeks.

Meh, the US didn't give up much of anything in the deal. As always, there's little reason to believe that any deal we make with North Korea would somehow end their bad behavior. It's about mitigating the damage they can or will do to people outside.

Dealing with them isn't an attractive option, but it's not like there's a better one.

wonder if the Chinese sabotaged it or if the US have some secret weapon that shot it down.

It's certainly possible, but I think it's far more likely that it failed on its own like their previous launches seem to have.
