I don't believe they commited any actual crimes.

I wonder which would be better to be not guilty on death row and have a chance for a new trial or be not guilty and get life with no chance in hell that you would be getting out.

This is why I oppose the death penalty in most cases. The legal system is far from perfect and to impose the death sentence based solely on eye witness testimony is usually not warranted. (Excluding cases of mass murder and genocide.) The original prosecutor should have his license suspended or he should at least be publicly reprimanded by the bar for his conduct.

I know the defense lawyer in the case, by the way.

The prosecutors who withheld evidence should be disbarred and given mandatory prison sentences.

Both of the women were sentenced on 2nd degree murder/manslaughter charges.

The prosecutors who withheld evidence should be disbarred and given mandatory prison sentences.

We can only dream. At least NC is equal opportunity . . . Gell is a white guy . . . obviously a poor white guy.

2nd degree murder is not a capital offense

Privileged classes that walk away scott free while condemning an innocent man to death suck don't they. This is one of the many reasons why I despise the legal system so much.
