Normal x800xt pe temps?

I was suprised by the temps compared to my bfg 6800 gt, just curious if this is normal, since it would seem to suggest some room to oc, at least as farm as temps are concerned =)

Idle 37c

After 3 hours of ut2k4 onslaught 48c

I have an x800 pro VIVO that I flashed to an XT PE. My friend bought an XT PE from compusa as well. As far as I can tell they are exactly the same thing just with different shipping bioses. Cooling, board layout, chips, and everything is the same.... Say that, we both get around 35C idle temps and they shoot up to 70-80C under full load before the fan starts to speed it up. Now, I can go into ATI tool and turn the fan on 100% full blast to make it cooler though. This drops my idle temps to 30C and my full load to 50C. Of course we both have our cards at stock XT PE speeds of 520/560.

I'm not sure if I'm going to turn my fan on full blast and leave it there despite the nicer temps.. it's just wayyyyyy tooo loud. With the fan spinning at normal speeds, something like 20-40% of max, I can't hear it and I idle in 2D apps pretty good. So, it looks like your temps are right on for where they should be to me.

Ohh, to add another note... I will say that my card sucks down the +5v line like nothing. If I use a Geforce 4 ti4600 or an older radeon 7000 my 5v line off the motherboard mosfet is at 5.06 or close to that. When I use the card..... drops down to 4.9 off the mofset. Now my motherboard is known for a bad 5v mosfet... stupid asus a7n8x-e deluxe boards... so I have adjusted the pots for that rail up. Off the supply while under full load I have a 5.23v off a molex pin and 12.36v for my 12v line. Both are controlled by the same pot.

All of my voltages seem stable. I am using the new revision antec 430 on this machine, they upped the 12v to 26a. 5v is always at 4.99-5.03

Thanks for the respones =)

Yah, most motherboards don't have the problem with the 5 volt rail like the asus a7n8x flavor motherboards. They used some, and continue to use, realy cheap mofsets there. Which was another reason the FSB for those boards tops out sooooo low. I bought mine back before the abit nf7 or dfi lanparty boards came out. Wish I had waited but oh well. As I said, your card sounds like it's doing exactly what it is meant to do in the temp department.
