My CPU Die reads around 42C when Idle and my board sensor reeads 24C when Idle. When playing a game like Battlefield 2, my temps will be rise about 5-6 degrees.

When should I get worried and shut down my system to protect my components, especially my graphics card?

The room temp is air-conditioned and about 69 degrees.
 
If your CPU is an A64 CPU, then your temps are fine, since your ambient temp's about 20.5 C, and if it's an Intel Prescott, then your temps are excellent.
