Normal temperature for a motherboard?

I have an ASUS P5w DH Deluxe. It regularly runs up around 55 degrees. I would not thik this to be an issue, but the probe utility that ships with it has a default threshhold of only 50 and provides continual warnings unless I adjust it up.

My thinking is that they just didnt pick realistic threshholds for it and just shipped it. It also makes no adjustment for CPU's such as the hotter 960.

Thoughts?

I have the same motherboard and it is running in the 48-50 C range. I've also been trying to figure out what's "normal" for my temperatures. 55 would seem to be within the range of experienced, as for ideal I do not know.

Now what I would really like to know is why my Power/Aux temp reading in Sandra and Speedfan often jumps from around 50 to 119C ... pretty sure thats an incorrect reading as my computer hasn't shut off and hasn't melted yet. It however is still disconcerting and I'm still looking for a fix.
