Normal temp for a PIII

I have a PIII 550e o/c to 733. What is the normal operating temp range? My cpu runs at 30-32 degrees celcius under normal conditions and run up to 41 degrees celcius running games (counterstrike and red alert 2). Is this normal? Also, anyone have experience with the real world performance difference between an MSI 6309 (via apollo pro 133 chipset) and a good BX board (say an aopen ax6bc pro, asus p3bf, soyo, etc.). I was thinking to switch to a bx board, not want to know if it's worth the hassle.

Thanks

You get better memory bandwith on a BX Board. As far as real world performance I dont think you would notice it that much. Your Temps look pretty much normal.

I think around 29-31 normal and 34-36 running half life. My MSI 6309 has 3 temp probes and I'm using motherboard monitor to see the temp. I don't really know what each probe is for and I'm just guessing that the highest temp is the cpu temp.

Thanks

is the MSI board a VIA based mb? If so, it may not be reading your internal diode as temp, but using a socket-thermsitor, or an on mb thermsitor to read cpu temp.

It that's the case, your temps are still fine, but they could warmer than the mb is reporting.
