Normal F.E.A.R. 7800 GTX scores..

Inspired by Munky's Munky Marks thread, I looked into my GTX's lack of peformance compared to Munky Marks. At the settings specified (1280X960, 4xAA 8x AF, max everything) I average 33 FPS at stock clocks (430/1200). Is this normal? It seems like it should be in the upper 30's, maybe around 38-39. I've been looking around at reviews, but every review has different numbers. Anyone care to benchmark F.E.A.R. and let me know your scores?

My testing was done with CPU at 2.7 GHz, so I'm sure theres no possible way of having a CPU bottleneck.

I don't think so. Munky benchmarked his 7800 GT at 520/1250 and got 43 FPS average. I tried taking my GTX up to 500/1370 and got 38 FPS average.

The results from Anandtech seem to be inline with what you got

That is weird. A 500mhz gtx should be at least as fast as a 520mhz gt if not faster.

It does appear to be in line with AT's review though.

Just cause i love benching FEAR (i wish all games had a built in benchmark), here's my X1800XT @ 690/800 results (everything maxed, 4x AA, 8x AF, 1280x960):

I'm running the 82.12 betas, maybe I'll try the 81.98's, or if I can get my hands on the 83 beta that's been going around..

It's like when i posted my X1800XT OCed 1600x1200 results in another thread, & 5150Joker came along & posted his stock X1900XTX results, which destroyed my X1800XT OCed ones :laugh:


Honestly though man, your results seem not bad.

I wouldn't get too worried.

I'm not TOO worried, I was just boggling at how Munky got a better score with his 7800 GT than I could with my GTX. Really doesn't make sense.

Yeah, my guess is different drivers, or maybe he turned off one setting accidentally or sumthin' ?

No, I have Softshadows off. I have patch 1.02 on F.E.A.R.
Shame that Munky isn't online. Now I want to ask him what drivers he has and what version of F.E.A.R. he is running.

I've looked over all my settings at least 10 times. Either there is something wrong with my hardware, or something is wrong with Munky's settings.

Im averaging 57FPS @ 1280x960 w/ max settings (except no soft shadows) 4x AA / 8X AF on a 7800GTX 512mb (81.98 drivers) , Videocard and cpu at stock clocks , Fear patched to 1.02.

EDIT: 52FPS average, Settings wernt maxed like I thought before.
