I blade shave but if I go longer than 2 days I like to use electric to at least knock the whiskers down to where blade shaving isn't tough.

My Norelco 6843XL, I guess it could use new heads (use only HQ55+, it says). Cheapie replacement parts are available at ebay but I guess an OEM Norelco head assembly is worth the extra bucks (~$23 shipped).

My issue right now is evidently the switch, having replaced the battery with an Eneloop NiMH (the low self discharge Eneloop is ideal for me because I only use the electric shaver occasionally). I have to keep pressing the on/off switch with some force to get decent power. I figure maybe I can remedy that. Anyone have experience with this?

That thing is old...

I bought a Philips/Norelco 3 years ago. I completely switched to a Mach3 for everything and don't use it anymore. So much easier to just do it all in the shower and never worry about a battery.

I'd give you mine, but ya know, the AIDs.

I've got some mid-2000's electric that still works for trimming moustache and beard when I need it. Though I did get some good hair shears and thinning shears that work very nicely.

As for shaving, my wife bought me a straight razor back in '07 maybe. Finally got it going here last fall. Couple of strops later, some soap and brushes, 3 razors, several hones, as well as a nice condition Gillette DE razor (60 years old), shaves are quite a bit more enjoyable.
