Here's a great idea! Plug "norcent" into the search box, look at the threads that come up and bring the answer back to us!

Who is the rebate going to for this drive? And how are they with rebates?

Here's a great idea! Go to the bestbuy.com website and find the rebate forms and and bring the answer back to us!
Then we can provide feedback on how they are with rebates. ;)

I didn't have any problem with the rebate from Best buy. I bought my Norcent on 4/14/03 and received my $30 rebate on 5/24/03 from Best Buy. The $20 Norcent rebate on the other hand, I'm still waiting for the $20 dollar rebate. I received a card in the mail dated 6-25-03 stating "Dear Sir or Madam, We have received your Best Buy rebate submission on Model number RW521, for $20. However, as stated on the rebate receipt we require your original serial number. Please cut the serial number from the box and return to Norcent within 10 business days of this postcard. Copies are not acceptable. If we do not receive the required documents, you will not recieve a rebate for this promotion. Please include a copy of this notice and reference number on your envelope. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding regarding this request. Reference: BB0XXXXX. Customer Service 909-305-8885. www.norcent.net" I called up Norcent the first chance I got and talked to a service rep and told him that I don't have the serial number anymore but I do have a hole on the side of the box that the CD R/W came in. I told him I could take a couple of pictures of the box and e-mail it to him. I e-mailed the pictures and was replied that the rebate will be processed accordingly. I didn't know what processed accordingly means so I replied back and asked if I will be getting the rebate. The response was "yes". So now I'm waiting for the rebate.

normally the retail stores want you to give the original upc's to the manufactor and the copy to the retail store... so you should have given best buy the copy and the real upc to the manufactor...

I don't know the wording of the disputed rebate, but the mfr one for this deal requires the original UPC cut from box AND the serial number cut from box. Just a heads-up.

Just bought one today. I'm pleasantly surprised with how quiet this drive runs. There are 2 rebates - $30 from Norcent and $10 from Best Buy. I really like how Best Buy provides the rebate receipts and forms. Great deal for a net total of about $20!

I just brought home a drive in a box of the style shown in the Best Buy weekly flier, which is the also the box shown on the website link. It contains an ugly beige-colored Benq drive. They had another style box with different, more primitive graphics, which wasn't covered by cellophane, and I assume it must have had the light grey Lite-On drive. The Best Buy employee wouldn't let me look inside before buying. :-(

Also, the store had none on the shelves initially, but the employee found four more in the back.

Buy both, return the one you don't want. Problem solved.
