had a model of a Rail going through an RSM being modelled in Abaqus and the bastage servers crashed and corrupted everything

that thing took a week to run and it was only half way !

I understand your pain...

Do you have all of your solid models in some other CAD software or are you modelling them in Abaqus?

its all done in abaqus, parts are designed and assembled in abaqus, steps n stuff put in, then input deck written. then we send it down to the clusters to crunch.

Have you tried using Patran/Nastran. I am learning it this quarter, and so far I am not a big fan of the FEA.
