I get the feeling it wll soon need to be put to sleep

It has had a nice run...I've had it since 1998 I believe.

Have you tried degaussing your monitor? Every modern monitor has a degaus option in the display settings.

I typically degauss my monitor once every couple of months just for the hell of it. It's cool to watch.

19" monitors are like $100 and 19" LCD's as nice as Dell's 1905 are $250. It's not a big deal at all

There are degaussing guns they sell, prob expensive, but TV repair shops have them probably, when monitors start doing that at my uni job, we run one over it in a circular motion for a few minutes, usually fixes them.

If it lasted since 1998 that is good. I would score a new Samsung 19 inch 8 ms LCD monitor.

That really sucks, I think it's time for a new one. Don't bother putting more good money into an old monitor from 98. You will quite enjoy the new ones out since they have gotten better over the years.

not really.. I still prefer my 19 inch NEC CRT from 2000 just fine.. .24 dp and much higher res than POS flat panels..
looks better with better color than my friends brand new Dell flat... even he noticed...

I'm no expert, something to do with it getting demagnatized or something, the gun levels out the field.
