Took the wife and little bro & sister to see Monsters Inc. last night and came out to find a lovely surprise. Someone decided they needed my stereo more than I did. I had only put it in 2 weeks ago hey at least let me break it in before you steal it. Bashed out passenger window on 99 F-150 glass everywhere.

Anyone else have any amusing anecdotes for me as I spend the next 4 hours trying to clean all the glass outta there. Man that stuff gets everywhere and is hard as hell to get out I am finding out.

A few years ago (when I was still in college) somebody busted my driver's side window (90 LeBaron 2-door) for no reason (they didn't steal anything). The cops, and I, think it was just some drunk dickhead. I spent hours trying clean all the glass out and I never did get it all. A year and a half later when I got rid of the car i still heard glass rolling around inside the dashboard if I took a corner hard. The fun part was that it was right before Thanxgiving break. So I got to drive an hour on the highway to get home w/no driver's side window in Nov in Indiana. At least my car's heater kicked ass. :)

EDIT: This should make you laugh. 2yrs ago a friend of mine had her car broken into. The good part is that her new stereo came w/a detachable face. The bad news is she didn't take the face w/her when she left the car. The worse news is that the theif just stole the face and left her w/a stereo she couldn't use. :Q I felt kinda bad when she told me this 'cause I double-over laughing my @ss off for a good 5 min.

LethalWolfe, that is not funny! Same thing happened to me. The faceplate of my Sony CD player was stolen a couple years ago . . . from my own driveway! I was pissed because when I called Sony up to find out about getting a new faceplate, they first accused me of having a stolen receiver and wanting to get a faceplate for it, then after I faxed them my receipt, they wanted just about the price of the stereo for just the faceplate (at the time, the stereo was around $350 and Sony wanted $250 for the faceplate). I ended up driving for about a year with no faceplate. I was able to play a CD, but it had to play straight through (restarting at the beginning when inserting a new CD). I had no controls at all! Couldn't adjust volume, change track, listen to the radio, etc. I drove me nuts after a while and I ended up buying a complete stereo from that auction site for around $150 - just used the faceplate, so I have the head unit sitting in a box, just in case.

i like hearing the stories about people who catch the thief as he's breaking in, anyone have any?
....my uncle caught one once. he was sleeping and heard glass break outside, went outside and beat the thief unconscious & broke some ribs. the thief also had a knife so it was just considered self defense i believe.

don't think that lowlife will be stealing any more stereos :)

My POS '88 nissan sentra got broken into at a HS football game, the radio was the only thing nice in it. They couldn't take out the cd player so they just bashed it up, they stole my friends cd case and went though our dirty clothes that we were bringing home from college. The bad part is my friend had a ti89 in his booksack and they went through it and took it out but didn't steal that. They didn't steal the ti89 but did steal the 2-3 bucks in change in the little nook in my dash.

These people broke into about 7 cars and burned one, and the cops did almost nothing. I had blood on my seat, they just told me that if I really wanted to I could drive down to the station and have them look at the blood on my seat, but if not just to wash it off.

sorry to hear about that avatar.

well here's a story for you guys: a few years back, i was in my room watching tv and i hear some noise from my driveway. i look outside and see this guy going through my moms olds cutlass. i yell at him and asked what the fvck are you doing? he says oh, uh i though this was my friends car. he lives around the corner. i said "why would he park in my driveway?" he turned and booked it when he saw the phone in my hand.

btw, he didn't break any windows to get in. those cutlass's suck. they have that tiny window in the back and all you have to do is push on them with a little pressure and they'll open.

I would like to introduce an anti-theft system that is like this:

Your car has to be locked, all windows closed and totally air proof. When you leave the car with a remote you fill the insides of it with sarin gas. When window breaks out goes gas and theif dies. Before getting in car remember to use the remote to clean the air inside before opening the doors!

sounds about like the cop I had last night. Seems like he thought it was a bother to have to come all the way to the theater to file a report. Kept saying "it happens all the time not much we can do about it."

Did get kinda lucky though. My wife had left her purse in the backseat of the truck but nothing was missing. Luckily they didn't get to my backpack on the floorboard. It had my new work laptop an IBM T20!!! but no they just wanted my $150 Koss mp3 cd deck. Bastards.

The last guy wasn't so lucky when he broke into my wife's car a few years ago. We lived in an apartment and I went downstairs to have a smoke outside. I see the light on in my wife's cimmarron and that picqued my interest so I walk slowly up to the car and I see a pair of legs hanging out from under the door and some banging noises. So I run up and just start slamming the door repeatedly. Wouldn't have been so bad until he got out and tried to fight me. I'm a fairly large person 6'6" 325# so I dropped him with a right hook and sat on top of him to keep him down. I hollered to my neighbors across the street that I saw and they called the cops for me. Turns out this kid had robbed out 12 cars in the complex that night and I was last in line. I still wish he would have fought more though. oh well Kids these days.

SirPsycho82, I'm not trying to be mean, but if you think about it it really is funny. Someone disabled you stereo by stealing the anti-theft protection. It's ironic, and it's funny :D

Getting stuff stolen from you car is bad, but at least they didn't piss or crap on the seats. Man, that stuff is horrible. The things some people will do just boggles the mind.

According to the United States Supreme Court, Law Enforcement has no legal duty to protect you and your family! Let alone stop a theif from stealing from you.

The correct way to handle this is an organised boycott of the theatre until sufficient security is provided.

Btw, briken safety glass is looked upon as a hazardous material. Call the cops for a report, call a tow to a secure yard or to your home and let the insurance company handle the cleanup. Then if you here a rattle or see glass later on it is their responsibility. Broken glass is VERY dangerous to handle.

Never expect any help from the cops. I've provided names and addresses of theives and they do nothing! Shoot first and ask questions later!:|

avatar08 thats a great story :) God help anyone I find breaking into my car. I may not be able to run after them, but if I sneak up on them, they're in for a world of hurt :D

breakins suck...

back when I was in high school my brother's '77 Monte Carlo got broken in to.. had had it customed out and w/ black glossy paint, a pretty nice stereo, cherry bombs, nice seats, etc... anyway one day after school he went out there and both side windows were busted completely out, as well as the back window, it was keyed beyond belief all the way around sever times, dashboard looked like it had been chopped up with an axe or something, the upholstery was all torn up and one seat was lying on the ground outside of the car, the outside mirror broken off, stereo gone, speakers gone, books and calculator gone, doors and hood banged up badly, maybe a baseball bat?.. hmm what else... oh yeah the poured a 10 lb. bag of sugar in the gas tank... I can't remember if anything else, but I know they sure did mess up a lot of stuff

the cops came out about 2 days later and dusted the car for fingerprints, etc., didn't really do anything about it though

I don't understand what and why people do it.. it's really strange and messed up

At my college we have three huge parking lots with a few lights and not much patroling, they had like three breakins my first year. I go to my old hs and my car gets broken into within 1 hr time. And let me tell you some of the cars here are very nice, and a lot of jeeps that are opened to anyone.

I guess it is just a matter of respect.

my apartment parking lot gets hella breakins

here's my story.
So over the last 2 days we had had 2 breakins, and I wanted to catch that dirty b!tch.
I borrowed my friends corvette and parked it under my window. This one mexican guy with a bat came around and started looking in the window. I was sitting at the window with my paintball gun~ he stepped back a bit like he was gunna swing so I yelled HEY!
he looked up, and I capped his ass.
