OH my... the worst thing just happend (well ok its not the WORST thing that COULD have happend.... but bad non the less) my CPU was being stupid and not running at 1000mhz (it would freeze everytime i started it in 1000mhz for some odd reason and it would work fine at 750mhz (its a 1ghz Athlon) and so i figured it was because some ACII leaked into the chips on the CPU and linked em togeather and shorted it out everytime it tryed to start and stuff... well i was right except that when i took off my HSF i simotaniously Broke the middle Mount for it (not realizing it untill after i got done cleaning the CPU) and now i can even start up my computer for fear of instant combustion (LOL) any one have any solutions to keeping the HSF on without buying anyhting? if not i guess ill have to suffer on this damn compaq untill i get a new HSF with side mounts... thanx

I think going to Arctic Silver's site and following the online guide to installing your heatsink using ASII would of completely prevented this from happening. BTW how much ASII did you use? If you used enough to reach the bridges when you applied, then I would have to guess the whole tube?

Anyway taisol makes heatsinks that connect using all three tabs on the socket, so you can start looking there. Or get a heatsink that mounts through the board like the Alpha 8045

Well i didnt put a whole tube on... but i didnt want to waste it so i slapped it on... lol... guess it was a bad idea *sigh* oh well no biggie i think there is a place near by that sells HSF's so maybe ill get lucky lol
