I will immolate myself on the White House lawn the day O'Rightwing becomes Prez.
Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly said he may take a look at running for president, according to a story in Newsday.

He told the newspaper: "Certainly the option is open if I want it," but "the country's not interested in an independent candidacy. Maybe in 10 years they will be, but right now, you have 50 percent of Americans who don't know anything -- they're totally disengaged from the process, the 'Mall People.' ...The other 50 percent -- and there was a recent poll on this -- are a third crazy left and third crazy right and third in the middle. So the pie you're going for is a very narrow pie."

WRONG FORUM.
But hey, I'd vote for him over any of the dems.

Obviously if you think he's a right-winger, you haven't spent much time listening to him.

What is it you guys don't like about him?
It's not like he's a conservative just because he's on Fox.
He rips on the republicans just as much as the democrats when he thinks they are doing something wrong.
How can you not like a guy who dishes it out to both sides?

He would be on tv everynight pushing his wares. "You can log onto our website at whitehouse.gov. We've got t -shirts and '#1 President' mugs, some presidential parchment paper and now some baby clothes."

See above. :p

I've watched enough to know he's a total asshole.

No, it's the other way around.
He rips on the republicans just as much as the democrats when he thinks they are doing something wrong.
They obviously don't do much "wrong" in that case.
How can you not like a guy who dishes it out to both sides?
Again: asshole factor > political stance (and I already disagree with most of his political leanings).

No, I think he's a right winger because he registered as a Republican

It is quite obvious most of you have never listened to him. O'Reilly is about right down the middle with his political ideals. The reason you see him speak so much about his conservative ones is that that is the majority of his viewers and listeners. there are many of his beliefs that us conservatives don't agree with him on. But we listen, becauase we don't hate someone just because we don't agree with him/her.

O'Reilly is one of the few commentators that gives his honest opinion and doesn't twist things to make any one side look better. There are so many commentators on both sides that absolutely refuse to admit any mistakes of their party. I get irritated with many conservative talk shows because when the Republicans do something stupid, they just defend it. O'Reilly has no problem making a big point out of Republican policies that he disagrees with. Yes, his own beliefs lean slightly to the right. So you are likely to hear more complaints about the Democrats. But if you listen for any length of time, you would know that he is not some right-winger who tows the Republican line.

And since when did being honest and up-front with your opinions make you an asshole. I find it refreshing to listen to somebody who doesn't sugar coat everything. Haven't we had enough of the PC "oh no, we can't say that, we might hurt somebody's feelings" crap?

I feel the same way about one of Oregon's long-time representatives in Congress. Peter DeFazio is a democrat and I disagree with many of his political views. But I have always liked him because he has always been honest and was never afraid to criticize his own party and colleagues when he disagreed with them.

That's the first thing I have EVER agreed with that's he said. I don't know if I should go kill myself now or what. But yes, if that guy becomes President, I'm moving to Canada.

Even though he's become more of an arse lately, I'd still vote for him over any of the current Dem choices.

CPA/Shanti: I really don't want to debate Bill's political leanings. The point is that he'd make a terrible president. I can just see him screaming "SHUT UP!! SHUT UP!! SHUT UP!!" at the press corps when they are pestering him on something he doesn't want to talk about. :p

I'd prefer bush.

The problem with O'Rielly is that the guy can't control himself (see also: NPR interview). He gets angry and insolent very quickly. I don't think he could cope with the pressure of public office.

Surely someone has come up with a more creative name than O'Rightwing. Do people even try anymore?

I was going to use "Lying, Splotchy Bully" but I think Franken trademarked that one. :p

Well given the choice between the NeoCons Puppet in the White House now and the less than exilarating candidates on the Dem side I probably would cast my vote for him

Isn't that essentially what Rummy does now?
